Where are you going?
All over Europe! Greece, Albania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Czechia, Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain.
When are you going?
I will move out on February 24, 2024, and I am flying to Athens on February 29, 2024.
How long will you be going for?
Five months in total! I'll first spend 2 weeks in Greece, then 2 months in the Balkans, then a remaining 2.5 months in the rest of the EU countries. I plan to be back in Canada at the end of July, though I plan on taking another trip back to San Francisco in August. Then maybe I'll be done travelling.
Why are you quitting your job?
I enjoy my work at OC and find it purposeful and fulfilling, and my team is even more fantastic than I could imagine. However, I've put a lot of thought into the direction I want my career to go, and I'd like to shift away from graphic design and instead work on projects more related to my degree in Interactive Multimedia Design.
Are you moving or staying in Ottawa?
I’ll be moving all my stuff back in with my parents in Mississauga, and staying there until I get back on my feet. Once I’m back in Canada, I'm not sure where exactly I'm going to end up. I’m open to moving to another city if it aligns with my career goals.
Wah! I'm going to miss you! Will you come back?
Yes! I have many friends in Ottawa and many reasons to visit all. My heart will always be in Ottawa.
What will you do with Zuzu (my cat)?
I'm still finalising this, and possibly still looking for someone to take her! It's a big ask, but if I don't find anyone then she will be happily accepted by my parents.
What are you planning on getting out of this trip?
A change in perspective. I feel that I have been living the same life for a long time, and that it hasn't continued to grow with me as the time passed. Like a little crab with a shell too small, I must make my journey onward to find things that fit me better. I'm looking to try many new things, to meet many new people, to reflect on my life as it has been, and to be open to many new possibilities and pathways for my future.
